Library Meetings ((Closed To Matt, Kiku, Al, and Vash))

Two o clock sharp had Matthew rushing towards the library, having showered and changed since his early morning walk. His blonde hair was still damp, and it dangled limply around his ears-- but he was still recognizable. That is, if anyone could even manage to see him. people did tend to ignore him very often.

The gilded French doors had pale stained glass in between the beautifully arranged designs--relaxing things, like leaves and various floral phenomenons. A sign above it read 'Library', and indeed this was where said blonde had spent all his afternoons. Today shouldn't have been any different but for the fact that he'd meant that quaint Japanese boy out in the grounds earlier, hearing his strange battle cries to the silence. No-- that was too dramatic. He was just, as he put it, 'exercising'.

And they'd agreed to meet up here, later.

A quick search around the building found him some startled first years, some moths flying out of books, but no Kiku. And so Matthew sat himself down in the corner with a sigh and a detailed book on gay history. It had a very colorful cover indeed.

After Matthew had left to continue his walk, Kiku had retreated to his room to try and register the fact that he had just made an acquaintance, and had told said acquaintance he would try and find him later. Anxiety stabbed his thoughts as he tried to calm himself.

There was simply no way he could just avoid the meeting. He had said he would look for him, so that was what he would do. But... what would he say? Would they actually talk at all? It was in the library... but students had hushed conversations there all the time and never got in trouble. But what would he talk about? He could never think of any conversation topics when he was nervous. What if he slipped up in his English? Matthew was probably a native speaker, so he would notice any mistakes he would make.

He was thinking about all of this as he walked toward the library at around 2:30. That was when Kiku remembered they had never specified a time... perhaps he wouldn't be there yet? Kiku took a deep breath, forcing himself to blow out very slowly. Why on earth was he so terrified? Matthew had seemed like a very nice person. Surely there would be no great amounts of awkwardness...

Opening the door to the library, Kiku looked around carefully. At first glance, he couldn't see Matthew. Hesitating just a moment more, Kiku then walked in, his eyes roaming the library, trying to spot... ah. There, sitting in the corner, was Matthew. Reading... gay history? He stopped, a brief feeling of panic overcoming him. What if he was reading up on something he didn't want other people to know about? He should leave him alone if that was the case. But if that were the case, then he would be reading in his room, not here. So it should be safe to approach... right? He cleared his throat as quietly as possible, before walking up to Matthew. "...Um... Konni...uh, hello."

Yes, there it was, Canada was the fourth country to promote gay marriage...although gay sexual acts had been open back in the classical periods-- that was when Matthew heard that soft spoken voice, with the slight accent, and raised his purple orbs to see. Yes-- there was the boy he'd met earlier in the grounds! Kiku Honda, in all his flustered glory. Think now, Matthew: it'd be better to act friendly and act like you're not so scared yourself. "Hello, Kiku. You came right on time-- I hadn't been here five minutes, really."

Matthew dusted himself off and replaced the volume of gay history back into its shelves tenderly, brushing his fingers across the spines of several more-- seeming like an extreme nerd with his glasses and books maybe, but not acting the part as he scooted over on the bench an patted the spot next to him. "I was just reading up on the public acceptance of gay society," he told Kiku, with a faint brightness. "It really did take the world a while, you know. But we can talk of more interesting things..."

After a moment of just staring at the seat, Kiku took it, finding it hard to respond. Homosexuality was accepted in Japan, but... well, most people just didn't mention it. Because although there were no laws against it, it was still seen as somewhat strange by the normal people of society.

Kiku's opinion... well, he didn't really have one. Homosexuality was just something that existed, not necessarily something he really thought about extensively. "Ah... yes. It... it is strange that over so many years, even though attraction to the same gender has been around since ancient times, people still think it's unusual..." Well, alright. He had thought about it a bit. "Oh, if you would prefer to talk about something else..." And, as Kiku predicted, he simply couldn't think of anything to say.
